OBS Faculty Attends Event for Small Businesses: Succeeding as a Creative Entrepreneur in NYC

Olivet Business School (OBS) faculty attended the event for small business in Brooklyn "Succeeding as a Creative Entrepreneur" hosted by the Business and Career Center of the Brooklyn Public Library.

The one-day event was a full-fledged immersion in the booming Brooklyn small business community in the Creative Arts department. According to figures, it is becoming one of the most important communities in the entire nation, with its growth surpassing the one in Manhattan.

The first half of the full-day schedule started off with the main speaker session, followed by a panel discussion of New York-based creatives, who shared their personal stories on the path of entrepreneurship. They also offered some real-life advice on how to embark and sustain themselves in the fast-paced creative field at New York City - the trendsetter of the world.

The event in the afternoon took a more personalized approach. During the group discussions of five different topics, attendants were able to find answers for many questions. The event ended with an hour-long networking event.

OBS faculty Sebastian Keita shared, "The Brooklyn Public Library created an exciting environment where we can learn from others and share our personal experience. It is easy to get new ideas from this kind of event."

"Most people assume that the creative scene is too difficult to enter. The event made me realize that I could have something to offer and possibly become a thriving member of this business community. More importantly, it showed me ways to be creative in my own current undertakings and gave me a fresh outlook on how to build a sustainable program for OBS," he continued.
